Update and some more finished FO's!

I feel horribly remiss - it feels like it's been forever since I blogged! Which it has really - about 6 weeks.

It's been sort-of busy on the crochet front, although I haven't had as much time as I've wanted to crochet. I've been so manic with work etc, that I haven't really done much this month. However on a happy note, on account of it being my birthday yesterday (24, guh) and my wedding anniversary on Thursday (6 years - yay!) I have this week off work :) So I have a number of WIPs and queued items that I want to tackle.

So an update on where I am! I've finished 2 projects, currently working on 2 and have about 2 or 3 I want to tackle asap.

So my first recent FO is my neck sock! I saw this pattern posted on Ravelry and it looked warm and snuggly and good for the upcoming winter weather. The pattern calls for DK/sport yarn, but I wanted to try and use up the last my almerino aran.

After finishing it, I realise that instead of doing all the stitches in the back loop, I misread the instructions and did them all in the top loop. Oops. And instead of starting with a chain, I started with a row of foundation single crochet to make it stretchier - which it certainly is.

Because it's not quite the 5 inches tall that it should be, I added a row of SC along the top and bottom which make it a bit taller, and neaten up the edges.

Will definitely make some more of these :)

My second FO is another One Skein Scarf. I wanted to use up some of my Araucania Quellon yarn that I bought forever ago... and to make a scarf that I could stash for a gift. Didn't take me long to do and here it is:

I did have plans to stash this, but it has already been rehomed! An old school friend of mine got back in touch with me and I gifted this to her last week - she wasn't feeling very well and I wanted to send her something a little bit luxurious and snuggly to cheer her up.

I am going ok on my Hairpin Lace Cardi Wrap. It currently looks a bit like this:

I'm in the process of creating the loooong strip that goes all the way around the outside of the body - after that I just have to do the arms and I'm done! Hope to finish that this week.

The other project I need to finish is Trev's monkey, and the next queued item I'm going to make is the Hourglass Jacket. I may need a bit more yarn to finish this, compared to what's in my stash, but I'll see how we go. Need to swatch etc for it first...

The only other update in the world of crochet, that I've decided to attempt spinning! I don't know whether I want to get a spindle or a wheel (well I want both, but which to start with?) so I'll probably dither over this for a while :)

Phew - that took a while to type ;)
